Mission’s Kitchens

MissionsKitchens_logoMission’s Kitchens is a programme that promotes cooking healthy meals from scratch on a budget using local foods where possible.

We do this through teaching hands-on cooking skills and facilitating the formation of self-managing community kitchens. We have a coordinator who oversees all our programs and we also hire kitchen facilitators to teach. An advisory committee of community members gives us valuable advice. We are also a member of the Mission Food Access Network (MFAN).

In November of 2011, the L.I.N.C. Society  took over the administration of Mission’s Kitchens.  L.I.N.C. received funding for kitchen equipment from the Mission Community Foundation for Mission’s Kitchens in November 2011. In January 2012, L.I.N.C. received a grant of 988 dollars from the United Way for Mission’s Kitchens.

The L.I.N.C. Society was awarded an additional grant from the United Way for its “Growing, Gleaning and Cooking Project.” This grant will allow the Society to continue the valuable work of Mission’s Kitchens in the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
